NATURAL SIGHTS, natural formations, typical of certain processes and phenomena and as a rule specific within surrounding scenery; they can be divided into geological, geomorphological, botanic, hydrological sights etc. Within the limits of the city and in the vicinity of the immediate surroundings of St. Petersburg, natural sights include: the kame hills with pine-trees in the area of Ozerki - Shuvalovo - Jukki - Osinovaya Roshcha - Koltushi; sand-dunes with pine forests stretching from Sestroretsk to Solnechnoe, Yuntolovo natural reserve (see Yuntolovo forest estate); steep and sometimes rocky precipices of pediment glaciolacustrine terraces in the area of Stachek Avenue and Petergofskoe Freeway extending as far as Peterhof; steep forest-covered slopes of highland terraces around Pargolovo - Lanskaya - Udelnaya; the bench of littorina terrace beside Zelenogorsk; residual glacial-fluvial Suzdalskie Lakes; the Duderhof Hills with Voronya Hill, characterised by sharp relief of undulating and morainic character; Lake Dudergofskoe (Duderhof) with artesian springs (about 30 in number near Villozi); oak groves in Sestroretsk and Lisy Nos; Shuvalovo Park with the Parnas panorama hill; the Neva River together with its erosive delta; the sand-bars of the spits of Elagin Island and Krestovsky Island; the slash east of Strelna; the Starik (Old Man) boulder in Old Peterhof and Olginsky boulder in the vicinity of Lakhta - Olgino; bouldery "ripraps" (lag deposits) along the coast of the Gulf of Finland; sand-pebbled outcrops in the roadside hollows of Srednevyborgskoe Freeway; hilly and morainic lake-hollow relief north of Zelenogorsk; karst funnel-shaped lows with springs of mineral waters extending along the edge of the Ordovician Plato (in the vicinity of Ropsha - Glyadino - Gostilitsy - Taytsy, in particular); clear-cut precipitous slopes of the Baltic -Ladoga Escarpment in the area of Pulkovo - Gorelovo; a cascade on the Sablinka River; caves in the valley of the Tosna River and a number of other sights.
