Svetlanovsky Avenue

SVETLANOVSKY AVENUE, between Svetlanovskaya Square and Suzdalsky Avenue. The avenue was built in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1910s, the lot between modern Toreza Avenue and Jacques Duclos Street was constructed and given the name Ananievskaya (Ananyevskaya) Street (after landlord Anany Ratkov-Rozhnov). The lot by Svetlanovskaya Square was developed in the 1950s (architects V.F. Belov, M.P. Savkevich, L.L. Schreter). In 1967, all lots were united under their modern name (after Svetlana Industrial Association, its parent enterprise is quartered in building 2). In 1970, Svetlanovsky Avenue was extended up to Suzdalsky Avenue. The majority of buildings date back to the 1960s-80s. A considerable part of Svetlanovsky Avenue goes along the Sosnovka Park, Olginsky Pond and intersects the park area along the banks of the Murinsky Stream. Close to Svetlanovsky Avenue, on the bank of Olginsky Pond, developed in the 1970s, Alexeev Sports Complex was constructed (16 Raevskogo Avenue; 1970, architect A.P. Izoitko, engineers B.A. Mironkov, B.K. Neofitov). At the intersection with Tikhoretsky Avenue, the building of the former Lesnaya dairy farm and the summer residence of architect Y.Y. Benois (building 65, the early 20th century) have been preserved; across the road, there is an original building of the Central Scientific Research Institute of Robotics and Engineering Cybernetics (building 32, 1973-86). On the sides of Svetlanovsky Avenue and Akademika Baikova Street crossroads, there is the Wreden Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedy (1980s, 14th workshop of Lenproekt, architect P.I. Yushkantsev et al.) and St. Elizabeth Hospital (there was also St. Elizabeth Church, constructed in the 1990s). Close to the intersection of Svetlanovsky Avenue and Severny Avenue, Severny (North) Market is located.
