Izmailovsky Garden

IZMAILOVSKY GARDEN is situated in the centre of St. Petersburg, between No 114 and 116а Fontanka River Embankment and Derzhavina Lane. The Polsky Garden is located to the west of the lane. The Izmailovsky Garden is 1.3 hectares in size. It appeared on locations of A. I. Rumyantsev's mansion in 1730, and was named after the former settlement of Izmailovsky Life Guard Regiment. Buff Theatre garden was opened there in 1901. It was reconstructed in 1938 (architect K.L. Iogansen). The Molodezhny (Youth) Theatre has been functioning from 1980. The garden has a landscape design and is planted mainly with broad-leaved trees. It is a recreational area.
