GUARDS RIFLE BRIGADE, Guards infantry formation. Consisted of four rifle battalions (from 1911 - regiments). Was quartered in Tsarskoe Selo (Tsars' Village). His Majesty's 1st and 2nd Tsarskoselsky battalions were formed in 1856, 3rd Finnish battalion -- in 1829 (until 1906 recruited from the subjects of the Grand Duchy of Finland), in 1906 disbanded, in 1911 raised anew from the Life Guards Reserve Regiment and designated the 3rd Rifle His Majesty's Regiment. The 4th Imperial Family's Battalion was formed from the combatants of the St. Petersburg irregulars in 1854. In 1918 the brigade was disbanded.
