The collection of minerals (8299 pieces) also was of unique value. The collection was housed in the former Dancing (White) Hall. Rumyantsev Museum was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Imperial Public Library in September 1845. Prince V. F. Odoevsky was appointed its director. Sittings of the Society for Encouragement of Artists were held in Rumyantsev Museum in 1831-55. Rumyantsev Museum was transferred to Moscow in 1861.
