PETROV-BYTOV (real name Petrov) Pavel Petrovich (1895-1960, Leningrad), film director, script writer. He worked as unskilled worker and barge hauler. In 1915-21, he served in the army. He graduated from the Petrozavodsk theatre school (1921). From 1925 (with interruptions) he worked at Lenfilm studio. He produced 11 films. The most known are The Whirlpool (1927), Cain and Artem (1929), Miracle (1934), and Defeat of Yudenich (1941). After the war he worked at Lennauchfilm studio. He is the author or co-author of most of his films’ scripts. He lived at 4 Kirovsky (today, Kamennoostrovsky) Avenue. He is buried at the Serafimovskoe cemetery.
