ASANOVA Dinara Kuldashevna (1942-1985, Leningrad), film director, Honoured Worker of the Arts of the RSFSR (1980). Graduated from the production department of VGiK (1968). From 1969, she worked as director in Lenfilm Studio. She produced ten films including Woodpeckers Don't Get Headaches (1975), The Key That Should Not Be Handed On (1977, International Film Festival in Moscow award), Tough Kids (1983, the main award of the Kiev Film Festival, 1984). The image of Leningrad appears in films The Key That Should Not Be Handed On and What Would You Choose? (1981, TV). Asanova's films touch upon teenagers' problems. Her main strengths are her ability to work with children actors, lyricism and improvisation. She received the State Prize of the USSR (1984). Her last Leningrad address was 45 Bolshaya Pushkarskaya.
