NEPRINTSEV Yury Mikhailovich (1909-1996, St. Petersburg) painter and graphic artist, people's artist of the USSR (1965), full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1970). He lived in Leningrad from 1934. He studied at the Academy of Arts (1934-38) under I. I. Brodsky, he taught at the Academy from 1948; he was a professor from 1954. His paintings depicting the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45 are classic examples of socialist realism: Rest after the Battle. Vasily Terkin, painted in 1951 and held at the State Tretyakov Gallery was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1952. Tram Gone to the Front, 1964, In Memory of those Perished, 1967, and a graphical series, Stories about Leningraders, painted in 1960-67 were devoted to the siege of 1941-44. He executed a series of etchings Pushkin and Petersburg during the 1980s. From 1954, he lived on 172 Moskovsky Avenue. He was buried at Literatorskie Mostki.
