NOBILITY REGIMENT, higher military academic establishment. Founded in 1804 as a Volunteers Corp of the 2nd Cadet Corps for accelerated training of officers from the indigent nobility over 16 years old. In 1808 the corps received the name the Nobility Regiment. The training consisted of two years, with graduation twice a year each for 500 students. Quartered in the barracks of the 2nd Cadet Corps, and subordinate to Director, in summer the regiment camped in Old Peterhof. By 1815 the Nobility Regiment turned out 2,400 officers. In 1832 the Nobility Regiment was divided into two battalions of 500 each, and separated as an independent academic institution (from 1837 classes were taught according to the curriculum of Cadet Corps). From 1855, the school was called the Konstantinovsky Cadet Corps, from 1859, the Konstantinovsky Military College, from 1894 Konstantinovsky Artillery School. In 1807-55 the Nobility regiment turned out over 13,200 officers.
