KONDRATYEVSKY AVENUE (from the 1830s to 1918, Bezborodkinsky Avenue), located between Arsenalnaya Street and Mechnikova Avenue. It was built in the second half of the 18th century, running from present-day Vatutina Street as far as Polyustrovsky Avenue, along the border of the A.A. Bezborodko property (hence the former name). The street has occupied its present territory since the late 19th century. In 1918, it was renamed after A.A. Kondratyev (1900-1918), who took part in the Russian Civil War. In 1906, building no. 1 was constructed by architect L.V. Bogussky; in 1910, the former Industrial School of the Russian Technical Society was built (building no. 15, architect R.A. Berzen). In 1915-16, building no. 14 housed the Workers" University, established on M. Gorky"s initiative. In 1917, a Red Guard Metal Plant Assembly Station was located in building no. 30. In 1922, the reconstruction of Kondratyevsky Avenue was launched, including the Kondratyevsky residential block in 1928-31 (building no. 40, 1928-31 architects G.A. Simonov, L.M. Tverskoy). In 1976, new sections of the Metal Plant were constructed (architects A.F. Oreshnikov, G.A. Skorokhod, engineer E.F. Epidiforov). In 1958, a monument to Kondratyev was unveiled (sculptor G.D. Glickman, architect Y.Y. Macheret). In 1997, the Marinesko Museum of the Russian Submarine Force was opened in building no. 83.
