BRYULLOV Boris Pavlovich (1882, Pavlovsk - 1939), art historian, regional ethnographer, organizer of excursions around Leningrad. Grandson of A. P. Bryullov. Graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of the St. Petersburg University in 1908. Devoted himself to organising artistic tours at the Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, and the Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts; and exhibitions for students from the Countess S. V. Panina People's Home, the People's Universities, and educational organisations of various workers' societies in 1902-25. In 1908-23, he taught history and art history at the Fifth St. Petersburg Gymnasium and at T. K. Stemberg's Private Gymnasium until 1912. At the same time, Bryullov taught general education evening courses for adults in 1914-17. Bryullov was a research assistant at the Russian Museum in 1918-19. He was in charge of the Museum Department of the Petrograd Administration for Science and Art Institutions in 1919. At the same time he was Secretary of the Fine Arts Department of the Institute of Art History in 1919-26. Bryullov was a research assistant and Full Member of the Excursion Institute in 1921-24. Bryullov was in charge of the Excursion Centre of the Excursion Foundation of the Central Leningrad Department of Political Education in 1924. In 1922-23, Bryullov taught history at the Workers' Faculty of the Institute of Engineers of Transport Communications. He taught art history at the School of Scenic Arts in 1924-25. In 1922-30, Bryullov was in charge of the Central House of Education Workers' gatherings and excursions. In 1929, he was a department head at the Museum of the Academy of Arts, and Assistant to the Chair of the Decorative Construction Faculty of the Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts. In 1932-33, Bryullov taught a course on the history of material culture at the Theatre of Young Spectators. He was one of the authors-compilers of A Guide Book on the Outskirts of Leningrad (1926), of the guide book Leningrad (1932, 2 editions - 1933), and The Leningrad Guide Book (1933). He lived at 15 Torgovaya Street (Soyuza Pechatnikov Street). Bryullov was arrested in 1933 and exiled to Tomsk. He later worked in Novgorod. Bryullov was again arrested in 1937 and died soon after.
