WREDEN Roman Romanovich (1867, St. Petersburg - 1934, Leningrad), orthopaedic surgeon, Doctor of Medicine (1893), Professor (from 1911). He graduated from the Military Medical Academy (1890). From 1906 he was director of the first Orthopaedic Institute in Russia (see Traumatology and Orthopaedics Institute). He is the author of the first Russian guide on orthopaedics (1925). Wreden offered and introduced about 30 methods of surgical treatment carrying his name. He was buried in Smolenskoe Lutheran Cemetery.
