RESEARCH AND STUDY CENTRE (8 Khlopina Street), educational institution with a continuous education system following the scheme "school - institute of higher education - postgraduate course - doctorate", established in 1999 on the initiative of Academician Zh.I. Alferov on the basis of Physics and Technology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Research and Study Centre encompasses the Lyceum ("Physics and Technology School"), Physics and Technology Faculty of State Polytechnic University, and Optoelectronics Department of Electrotechnical University, with state-of-the-art equipment, including a local computer network with Internet access, and satellite television, presentation facilities and a workout centre. A laboratory building and a hotel were under construction in 2003. The Research and Study Centre trains specialists in advanced physical research, including modern information technologies; holds conferences and exhibitions; and organises public lectures on important science issues. The centre is located in a specially constructed building (1996-99, architectural workshop of V M. Freifeld).
