KANTEMIROVSY BRIDGE, over the Bolshaya Nevka, links Medikov Avenue on Aptekarsky Island with Vyborgskaya Embankment and Kantemirovskaya Street (hence the name) on Vyborgskaya Side. It was constructed in 1979-82 (engineers B.N. Brudno, B.B. Levin, architects А.V. Govorskovsky, V.М. Ivanov) at the site of a former ferry station, which existed here from the 19th century. The bridge has fifteen spans and two ramps; the two trestle parts fitted out as parking lots, are spanned by reinforced concrete solid five-span beams, two spans above the embankment and two channel spans, supported by solid double-span pre-stressed steel girders. The central opening span has a single revolving wing, with a fixed rotation axis. The banister railing is a replica of that on Tuchkov Bridge (architect P.А. Arashev). Length: 315.6 metres (along with the ramps 664.1 metres), width: 31.4 metres.
