IVAN FEDOROV (11 Zvenigorodskaya Street), an open joint-stock company from 1993. It originated from the printing house of R. Golike and A. Vilborg’s Partnership founded in 1902, which was one of the best printing enterprises in Russia specialising in high-class publications and enjoying the status of His Imperial Majesty’s court supplier. Nationalised in 1918, it was renamed into the 15th State Printing House and named after printing pioneer Ivan Fedorov in 1922. A. N. Leo, the chief designer of the printing house, sketched the first state emblem of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. The printing house published placards, military maps, and leaflets in 1941-45. It became the parent enterprise of Ivan Fedorov Printing House Company in 1985; the company was joined by Offset Printing Factory 1 and the Small Book Company. It was one of the first printing enterprises to become a joint-stock company in 1993. The enterprise was upgraded in subsequent years and equipped by leading foreign manufacturers, making products of world-class quality. There is a monument to the workers of the company who perished during World War II of 1941-45, sculpted by V. I. Loponogov in 1967, on the territory of the printing house.
