USHKOVO (until 1948 Tyurisevya), formerly a village, since 1998 - a municipal unit of Kurortny District, 49 km to the north-west of St. Petersburg, in the resort area on the north coast of the Gulf of Finland; a railway station. The population is 300 people (2001). In 1918-40, the territory belonged to Finland. The village was renamed after the Hero of the Soviet Union, Private First Class D.K. Ushkov (1922-44). The Chaika (Sea-gull) Health Centre, Ushkovo Recreation Department, Zhemchuzhina (Pearl) Health Centre for Children and other recreation facilities are located on the territory of Ushkovo.
