SEROVO (until 1948 Vammelsuu), formerly a village, since 1998 - a municipal establishment forming a part of Kurortny District, in the recreational zone on the north coast of the Gulf of Finland, to the east of the outflow of the Chernaya River into the gulf. The population consists of 100 residents (2001). The village was renamed after pilot V.G. Serov, who perished in an air fight on this location on 26 June 1944. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45, a defence line was constructed in this region and was manned by Finnish troops, becoming the site of intensive fighting.
