LEVASHOVO, a former settlement, north-west of the city centre; since 1997, a municipal unit of the Vyborgsky District of Saint Petersburg. It emerged as a settlement for workers building the Vyborg railway station in 1870. The landmark was named after Count V. V. Levashov, who owned the neighbouring Osinovaya Roshcha (Aspen Grove) Estate in the second half of the 19th century. During the early 20th century, it was a popular spot for summer cottages. Levashovo encompasses two former military settlements, Levashovo-2 and Novoselki, located along the Gorskoe Highway toward the west. As of 2001, the population of the Levashovo settlement totaled approximately 2,500 inhabitants. In 2001 Levashovo's southern edge became part of the Central Circular Highway.
