KOLTOVSKIE, historical name of a region in the western part of Petrogradsky Island between Pionerskaya Street (former Bolshaya Koltovskaya Street), Bolshaya Zelenina Street, Korpusnaya Street and Admiral Lazarev Embankment (former Koltovskaya Street). In the early 18th century the settlement of the Nevsky regimental garrison with eight Koltovskaya Streets named after the regiment commander P. Koltovsky. In the late 19th - early 20th centuries in the course of redevelopment of the area the majority of the streets vanished. The name survived in the designation Sredny Koltovskaya Street.
