Categories / City Topography/Waterways and Currents/Canals

DUDERHOFSKY CANAL was built during the improvement of the Peterhof Highway and Southern Primorsky Park. It was named after the Duderhofka River (the Canal covers the river's mouth). The Duderhofsky Canal consists of three parts: a latitudinal, along the Peterhof Highway, 2.5 km long and 30 meters wide; a meridional, along the western end of Southern Primorsky Park, 0.86 km long and 30 meters wide; and a low part of the oval widening of the Matisov Canal branch to Neva Bay in the area of Southern Lakhta Bank, 1.5 km long and from 100 to 250 meters wide. It is navigable in its low part and belongs to the city's recreation zone. It is spanned with Partisan German bridge.
