Alexandrovsky Bridge

ALEXANDROVSKY BRIDGE (other names - Semenovsky, Malosemenovsky, from the neighbouring barracks of the Semenovsky Life Guards Regiment), across Vvedensky Canal, from the Fontanka River Embankment. Built in 1808-14 (architect V.I. Geste). Made from a cast iron frame, its foundations are stone with granite facing, granite obelisks serve as a foundation and are illuminated with lamps. In 1970, on account of the encroachment of the canal, the Alexandrovsky Bridge was dismantled, the obelisks in 1973 were taken to Podyachesky Bridge, spanning Griboedov Canal.
