ASSOCIATION OF ARTISTS, an artistic union was established by a group of former members of the St. Petersburg Society of Artists in 1904. The Charter was approved in 1906. The Association aimed at developing and promoting art in Russia, organizing joint exhibitions, and giving financial support to artists. The Association was based on the aesthetic platform of salon academism. The Association included Nikolay Becker, Richard Bergholz, Sergey Vasilkovsky, Konstantin Veshchilov, Konstantin Vroblevsky, Ivan Goryushkin-Sorokopudov, Viktor Zarubin, Yury Klever, Iosif Krachkovsky, Ernst Lipgart, Ivan Pokhitonov, Rudolf Frenz, et al. In 1904-24 the Association held annual exhibitions (in the halls of the Passage) and in 1909-23 - autumn exhibitions in the premises of the Artists Encouragement Fund. It existed until 1924.
