KHARLAMOV BRIDGE (in 1927-91, Komsomolsky Bridge), across Griboedova Canal, on Rimskogo-Korsakova Avenue. In 1753, there was a single-span wooden pile girder bridge, replaced in the early 19th century with a single-span strut-framed wooden bridge on granite-faced rubble abutments. The present-day bridge was built in 1934 (engineers M.D. Zhdanov, A.D. Saperstein, consultant G.P. Peredery). The opening was blocked with reinforced concrete monolithic hinge-less spiral vault. The granite-faced abutments are made of concrete, on wooden pile footing. The railing is of simple pattern, the wing walls contain granite balustrades. The bridge is 32.8 metres long and 22.5 metres wide.
