CHASSEUR LIFE GUARDS REGIMENT, infantry guards regiment. Formed in 1796 as a battalion, in 1806 deployed into a regiment. Participated in the Napoleonic Wars of 1805, 1806-07, 1812-14, wars with Turkey 1828-29, 1877-78, in suppressing of the Polish insurrection of 1830-31, in WW I 1914-18. Until 1817 quartered in the Old-Chasseur Barracks (5 Zvenigorodskaya Street), afterwards - in a specially constructed group of buildings at 14-18 Ruzovskaya Street (architect A.E. Schubert, 1816-17). St. Miron's Church served as a regimental chapel. In the early 1918 the regiment was disbanded. References: История лейб-гвардии Егерского полка за сто лет, 1796-1896.
