STARYE GODY (The Bygone Years), a journal, a monthly for art and antiquity lovers, appearing in 1907-16 as a publication of The Circle of Russian Deluxe Edition Lovers. The editorial office was located first at 7 Solyanoy Lane, later at 10 Rynochnaya Street. In 1907 published by P. P. Weiner, the journal was edited by V. А. Vereshchagin, subsequently Weiner performed the functions both of publisher and editor. Starye gody published material on the art history, presented private and public collections and separate items, covered domestic and international cultural events. The journal provided information on auctions and private art sales in Russia and abroad with index and prices, museum guides. Much of its attention was devoted to the preservation of the artistic and antique legacy in Russia and St. Petersburg, drawing public attention to and addressing the municipal authorities with the problem of the destruction of monuments and amateur restoration; covered the activities of the Museum of Old Petersburg, published articles on the city history. Alexander N. Benois, N. N. Vrangel, G. K. Lukomsky, N. K. Rerikh, V. Y. Kurbatov, P. N. Stolpyansky were among the journal's staff contributors. References: Ромм М. Д.
