EKATERINGOFSKY BRIDGE (from 1911-20 Rizhsky), spanning the Ekateringofka River, joining Rizhsky Avenue (hence the former name) with Gapsalskaya Street of Gutuevsky Island. Built in 1910-14 (engineers P. Pshenitsky D. Y. Akimov-Peretts and others with the participation of the American firm Shertser and Co.) The opening is surfaced with a metal double winged spanning frame with deck plate girder traversing the opening system, the foundations are of rough-hewn stone, faced with granite. On the left-hand shore abutment there is an administrative hall in the form of a granite tower. In 1941-44, the bridge was damaged by bombing; it was repaired in 1950-52. In 1987-89, it was reconstructed (engineer B. N. Brudno): the articulated three span beam bridge was transformed into a three span continuous beam bridge; the timber planking was replaced with a metal orthotropic slab with a polymer coating in the span and a reinforced concrete plate on the abutments; the abutment and cones have been repaired. The bridge is no longer opens. Length: 63.4 m, width: 21.3 m.
