Voznesensky Bridge

VOZNESENSKY BRIDGE, across Griboedov Canal, along the route of Voznesensky Avenue (hence the name). In 1735, there was a wooden bridge here. In the 1780s it was replaced with a single span wooden beam bridge (later with a nogging-strut framed) decking. The foundations were made from rough stone with granite facing. The present bridge was built in 1957-58 (engineer B.B. Levin, architect L.A. Noskov). The deck structure was a metal frame with double hinging, street lamps resembling the picture of the first Sadovy Bridge were also added (restored in 1999-2001), a cast iron railing like that of Italyansky Bridge was used. The length: 19.3 metres, width: 20 metres.
