January. The archpriest Gennady leonidovich Zverev was appointed the senior priest of the Cathedral of the Ascension (St. Sophia); since 1998 Zverev became the rural dean of churches of the Tsarskoye Selo District; he was a loyal supporter for revival of Orthodox churches in Pushkin Town and environments, he was conferred the title "Honorary Citizen of Pushkin Town".

22 February. The joint-stock company ASERP, one of the first St. Petersburg companies for the constructing of the dwelling houses using the method of share holding, was established in Pushkin Town.

July. For the 750th anniversary of the battle on the banks of the River Neva, the monument to Alexander Nevsky (the sculptor V.G. Kozenyuk) was erected near the Cathedtral of St. Sophia, a side-chapel of the cathedral was sanctified in honour of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky. Kozenyuk Valentin Grigorievich
