KADOCHNIKOV Pavel Petrovich (1915, Petrograd - 1988, Leningrad), actor, film director, People’s Artist of the USSR (1979), Hero of Socialist Labour (1985). After graduating from the Leningrad Theatre Institute he worked as an actor at Leningrad’s Youth Theatre in 1935-44. Acted and directed at Lenfilm from 1944. Played a lot of heroic, lyric, and comic roles, including Lenka Sukhov in S. I. Yutkevich’s Yakov Sverdlov (1937), Mukhin in A. V. Ivanovsky’s Anton Ivanovich Is Angry (known as Spring Song, 1940), Vladimir Staritsky in S. M. Eisenstein’s Ivan the Terrible (1944-45), Major Fedotov in B. V. Barnet’s Secret Agent (1947), and the Eternal Grandfather in A. S. Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky’s Siberiade (1978). He directed such films as Regiment Musicians (1965), Snow Maiden (1968), I Shall Never Forget (1983), and Silver Strings (1987). He was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1948, 1949, and 1951. He lived at 2 Kirovsky Avenue (today, Kamennoostrovsky Avenue). He was buried at Serafimovskoe Cemetery.
