RUSSIAN ARTISTIC AND INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY in St. Petersburg was established in 1904 on the initiative of graduate students and tutors of the Central School of Technical Drawing. Their main objective was to promote the development of artistic industry and distribute theoretical and practical knowledge of the applied arts. Among the participants were artists V.P. Babenchikov, N.O. Blinov, R.F. Wilde, I.A. Galnbek, O.O. May, M.G. Manizer, M.V. Rundaltsov, E.F. Faberge. The Society operated under the patronage of Grand Prince Georgy Mikhailovich. It held weekly drawing evenings in the Kustarny Museum in Solyanoy Settlement. Its members organized the Faberge Jeweller's Art Contest (1912), free classes of enamel painting under the guidance of Franz Birbaum and a bureau to connect artists with industrial customers. The Society cooperated with the Faberge Company and the Kornilov Porcelain Factory (see the Kornilov Porcelain Factory). The Society ceased its operation after 1917.
