SEVERNYE TSVETY, Northern Flowers, a literary almanac, which appeared annually from 1825 until 1832 coming up with a total of eight issues. Founded and published by А. А. Delvig, it released its last issue upon his death with the revenue going to Delvig's family. Among others Alexander Pushkin, P. А. Vyazemsky, V. A. Zhukovsky, Е. А. Baratynsky, O.M. Somov, P. А. Pletnev, I. А. Krylov contributed to the Severnye Tsvety. Following the events of 14 December 1825 (see Decembrists' Uprising) and the suppression of the Polyarnaya Zvezda for its connection with the Decembrists, the Severnye Tsvety emerged as the focus point of literary talent of Moscow and St. Petersburg, publishing I. I. Kozlov's Evening Bells, Pushkin's Winter Evening, I Loved You Once..., Vain gift, chance gift.., prose works of O.I. Senkovsky, V. F. Odoevsky and other works. References: Вацуро В. Э.
