LENINGRADSKAYA PRAVDA (The Leningrad Truth), (until 30 January 1924 Petrogradskaya pravda), a daily newspaper, functioned as an organ of the city and regional committees of the Communist Party and city and regional soviets. It appeared in late March 1918 after splitting from Pravda, which had been relocated to Moscow. Its publishing did not cease during the siege of 1941-44 (only one issue on 25 January 1942 did not appear); throughout this period Olga Bergholz, V. V. Vishnevsky, V. M. Sayanov, N. S. Tikhonov contributed to the newspaper; the newspaper had also come up with special issues for the inhabitants of the occupied territories of the Leningrad Region. The periodical covered political, economic, cultural and scientific issues, sport events etc. At various times it had a number of supplements, including Literaturnaya Nedelya, circulating in the 1920s (with contributions of Tikhonov, А. P.Chapygin, М. Е. Koltsov et al.), Literaturnoe prilozhenie (represented by V. Y. Shishkov, Nikolay Zabolotsky, Аlexey Tolstoy, V. А. Rozhdestvensky et al.). Following the events of August 1991 the newspaper was closed. The editorial office was located at 14 Sotsialisticheskaya (Ivanovskaya) Street; 59 Fontanka River Embankment.
