PETROKHOLOD (87 Polyustrovsky Avenue) is an ice-cream factory. It was established in 1939 as Refrigerating facility № 6 of the Russian Committee for Meat and Milk Trade, built near the railway station of Kushelevka with the purpose of storing milk and meat products, and later fish and berry products. Ice-cream and waffle manufacturing facilities were added in the autumn of 1946. Two other buildings were added in the 1960s, and the factory was called Leningrad Refrigerating Facility No. 6. The Company has been known as Petrokholod open joint stock industrial company since 1998; it produces over 8 thousand tons of ice-cream of more than 80 varieties annually. The Company was awarded medals For the best trade mark (Geneva, 1998), Golden America (for high product quality, New York, 1998), and other prizes.
