KUZNETSOV Alexey Alexandrovich (1905-1950), Soviet statesman and party worker, lieutenant-general (1943). Since 1922 he had been working at the saw-mill in Borovichi town of Novgorodskaya province. Since 1925 a member of All-Union Communist Party (bolshevist). In 1924-32 he was performing Komsomol work in Novgorodskaya province and Leningrad. Since 1932 Kuznetsov had been appointed an instructor of Leningrad City Committee, deputy secretary, secretary of district committees in Leningrad, the head of the department of the regional party committee of All-Union Communist Party (bolshevist). Since 1939 a member of the Central Committee of All-Union Communist Party (bolshevist). In 1937-45 he was 2nd secretary of Leningrad regional party committee, of the City Committee of All-Union Communist Party (bolshevist). Kuznetsov was one of the Leningrad defence organizers in 1941-44, a member of Military Soviets of the Baltic Fleet, Northern and Leningrad front-lines. In 1945-46 1st secretary of Leningrad regional party committee and the Party City Committee. In 1937-46 Kuznetsov resided at 29/37 Kronverkskaya Street (memorial plaque). Since 1946 he had been living in Moscow, where he was appointed a member of Organizational Bureau of the central Committee (1946-49), secretary of the Central Committee and the Head of the Human References Department of the Central Committee of All-Union Communist party (bolshevist) (1946-49). Since February of 1949 a secretary of Far-eastern bureau of the party Central Committee. In August of 1949 he was arrested in relation to the Leningrad Case. In October of 1950 Kuznetsov was executed by shooting.
