TOLSTOY Peter Alexandrovich (1770-1844), count, statesman and combat leader, infantry general (1814), adjutant-general (1797). Tolstoy took part in the suppression of the Polish uprising of 1830-31. He enjoyed the full confidence of emperor Nicholas I.
