ELECTION DISTRICTS. There are two types of election districts on the territory of St. Petersburg: for the purpose of elections of deputies of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and for the purpose of elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. All the election districts are divided into election sections. Elections of deputies of the Legislative assembly of St. Petersburg are carried out in single member constituencies covering the entire territory of the city. One deputy is elected per district. Borders of the districts are determined on the basis of approximately equal quantity of electors taking in account the administrative territorial division and location of municipal entities. In the period between the elections the borders of election districts may be corrected according to changes in the demographical situation. Not later than 95 days before the next voting the scheme of location of election districts is published in mass media. Elections on the basis of election districts took place for the first time in 1994. In St. Petersburg there are 8 single member constituencies for elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from St. Petersburg. Such elections took place for the first time in 1993.
