OFFICERS HOUSES, officers houses were stone tenement houses (second half of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries), where apartments were rented at low rates solely to the officers rendering military service in one of the garrison's regiments. They were built with long-term credit, and repaid for out of rent payments, or charity of regiment commanders. The houses were located close by the barracks of the corresponding regiments (Officers house of the Preobrazhensky Life Guards Regiment - at 35 Kirochnaya Street; of Semenovsky Life Guards Regiment - at 54 Zagorodny Avenue, of Izmaylovsky Life Guards Regiment – at 9 Izmaylovsky Avenue etc.).
