Military Commandant's Office of the St. Petersburg Garrison

MILITARY COMMANDANT'S OFFICE of the St. Petersburg Garrison (3 Sadovaya Street), exercises control over the garrison forces and military personnel, stationed on the territory of St. Petersburg, as well as military and disciplinary control and maintenance of martial law, emergency situations, and siege regimes. Set up in 1796 as the St. Petersburg Military Commandant's Chancellery, in 1801 reorganised as the Commandant's Department, from 1923, known as the Military Commandant's Office. Headquarters are located in the former Ordonanshaus Edifice.
