KAZACHY LANES, Bolshoy Kazachy Lane and Maly Kazachy Lane, known as such since 1795 for the Don Cossacks Yard. Called Ilyicha Lane from 1925 to 1993. Bolshoy Kazachy Lane extends from Gorokhovaya Street to Zagorodny Avenue, and Maly Kazachy Lane runs from Fontanka River Embankment to Bolshoy Kazachy Lane. Most of the lanes' buildings originate from the 19th century - early 20 centuries, including house No. 4 (1915, engineering architect S.G. Ginger), house No. 6 (1903, civil engineer P.N. Batuev) and house No. 9 (1832, rebuilt in 1905), all three situated at Bolshoy Kazachy Lane. The Cossack Bath-Houses (11 Bolshoy Kazachy Lane) date back to the 19th century. House No. 7 is where V.I. Lenin lived in 1894-95 and in 1900. From 1938 to 1992, the building housed the Lenin Memorial Apartment-Museum, and now accommodates the Museum of the Revolutionary Democratic Movement of the 1880s-90s.
