KOMSOMOLSKAYA SQUARE, at the intersection of Stachek Avenue and Krasnoputilovskaya Street. Constructed in the 1950s in the course of the development of the Avtovo District, according to a plan designed by architect A.A. Ol in the 1930s. Originally, the square was called Kruglaya Square ("round square," after its geometrical form); in 1958, it was renamed for the 40th Anniversary of the All-Union Leninist Communist Youth League. It was built up with three bow-shaped residential houses that duplicate the square's outline (1955-62, architects V.A. Kamensky, S.G. Mayofis). In the public garden located between Stachek Avenue and Krasnoputilovskaya Street, a monument to the heroic Komsomol, created by sculptor V.I. Gordon, was erected in 1968.
