Veteranov Avenue

VETERANOV AVENUE, translated as Veterans' Avenue, between Podvodnika Kuzmina Street and Pionerstroya Street. It was laid in 1960-70s through Dachnoe, Ulyanka, Ligovo, and Sosnovaya Polyana. It crosses the Dachnaya, Novaya, Dudergofka, and Ivanovka rivers and goes by Alexandrino, Polezhaevsky, and Sosnovaya Polyana parks. The avenue was so named in 1964 in memory of veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45. It was built up in 1960-80s by architects Y. M. Maisel, G. Y. Bishko, and E. M. Poltoratsky. A metro station of the same name built by architect V. G. Khilchenko in 1977 is situated nearby. Kirovsky Plant's multi-specialty hospital was built by architects E. V. Kondratovich and E. N. Speranskaya at 54 Veteranov Avenue in 1979. A public centre built by architect E. M. Poltoratsky at the intersection with Soldata Korzuna Street includes houses 87 and 76-78 and Tallinsky Supermarket built in 1974. Rubezh Cinema translated as Line Cinema was built at 121 Veteranov Avenue in 1973 and named in memory of the defence of Leningrad of 1941-44.
