Primorskoe Freeway

Categories / City Topography/Urban Network/Highways, Roads

PRIMORSKOE FREEWAY, goes along the shore of the Gulf of Finland (hence the name, that appeared in 1974) through Sestroretsk town and villages of Kurortny District of St. Petersburg. Abrupt turns, extensive wooded areas along the road and sea panoramas are typical of Primorskoe Freeway and make it a favourite walking place for city residents. Close to Primorskoe Freeway, numerous villages and stone summer residences of the late 19th - early 20th centuries have preserved: building 411 - Penates, the country estate of I.E. Repin; building 471 is the house where composer D.D. Shostakovich lived (1961-75); building 520d - the summer residence of the Eliseev family (early 20th century), building 520g - the former Eliseev restaurant (second half of the 19th century); building 547 – the Our Lady of Kazan Church (1910-13, architect N.N. Nikonov); building 690 - Silent Shore, the former country estate of Academician V.M. Bekhterev (late 19th - early 20th centuries).
