POSADSKAYA MALAYA STREET, on Petrogradskaya Side, between Kamennoostrovsky Avenue and Chapaeva Street. The road appeared in the 1720s in the settlement of craftspeople and tradespeople, transferred to St. Petersburg from other towns (these people were called "posadskie", hence the name). In 1964-89, it was called Bratyev Vasilyevykh Street - after directors G.N. Vasilyev and S.D. Vasilyev. In the late 19th - early 20th centuries, the street was built up with apartment houses: building 2 (1911, architect M.S. Lyalevich), building 10 - one of the first cooperative residential houses in St. Petersburg (1910s, architect A.I. Zazersky), buildings 5, 15 (both of 1910), 19 (1904) and 17 (1902) designed by architect F.I. Lidval. In 1906-17, building 26 housed the Women's Pedagogical Institute. On Posadskaya Malaya Street, following culture workers lived: film director G.M. Kozintsev (building 4a, 1939-73), poet S.S. Orlov, playwright E. L. Schwarz (both lived in building 8) and historian and regional ethnographer N.P. Antsiferov (building 19, 1915-20).
