KHOMUTETSKY Nikolay Fedorovich (1905-1973, Leningrad) architect, historian of architecture, Ph.D. in Architecture (1956), and professor (1956). After graduating from the Institute of Civil Engineering (1931) he was accepted to the post-graduate program. From 1935, he was an assistant at the department of architectural history and theory. At the same time, he worked at Lenproekt Institute, and designed three school buildings projects, including that of school № 189 at 16b Pestelya Street. From 1937, he was the chief editor of the journal Leningrad Architecture. A contracted lecturer at the Department of Architecture, and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Architecture from 1940. He was at the front in 1941-45. Became Director of the Leningrad Civil Engineering Institute in 1948-52, and headed the Department of Architectural History and Theory in 1956. He wrote over 130 academic works on the history of architecture. Studied the planning and the development of cities from the Classical epoch, as well as Eclecticism, Modernism, and historical styles, composing a number of biographies and lists of works for architects of the second half of the 19-20th centuries. Lived at 6 Bratyev Vasilyevykh (today Malaya Posadskaya) Street, and buried at the Krasnenkoe Cemetery.
