YATSEVICH Andrey Grigorievich (1887, St. Petersburg - 1942, Leningrad) art historian, regional ethnographer, specialist in the works by Pushkin. Yatsevich graduated from the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University in 1905. He graduated from the Faculty of Art History of the St. Petersburg Archaeological Institute in 1912. Yatsevich studied Italian Renaissance culture and St. Petersburg culture and history. Yatsevich was a member of the society called Old St. Petersburg, participating in the study and protection of the Lazarevskoe Cemetery. Yatsevich contributed to the Commission for Studying Leningrad Cemeteries in 1925. In 1932, he became a member of the Commission for the Inspection of the Holy Annunciation Church-Burial-Vault at Alexander Nevsky Lavra, meant to be transformed into a storehouse for memorial sculptures. Yatsevich was a member of the society Old St. Petersburg - New Leningrad. He was a member of the Presidium of the Pushkin Society from 1932, and was in charge of the Branch for the Protection of Memorials. He participated in the restoration of A. S. Pushkin's flat at 12 Moika River Embankment and in the restoration of the Bronze Horseman. He wrote the books Pushkin's St. Petersburg (1930; four editions through 1935) and Serfs in St. Petersburg (1933; two editions through 1937). Yatsevich's final work is called Construction in St. Petersburg in the 19th Century, published posthumously as part of the collection Leningrad: A Review of Architectural Planning in the City's Development (1943), devoted to the 240th anniversary of the foundation of St. Petersburg. Yatsevich lived at 69 Griboedova Canal Embankment. He died of famine during the siege.
