TROITSKY ALEXEY ALEXEEVICH (1866, St. Petersburg, 1942, Leningrad) is inventor of chess exercises, honoured art worker (1928). He graduated from Forestry Institute (1897). Troitsky lived in Leningrad since 1933 (91 Moika River Embankment; memorial plaque). Starting with the first publication of a chess problem in 1893 and the first exercise in 1895 in a chess column of Novoe Vremya newspaper (edited by M.I. Chigorin) over 47 years he published over 1,000 exercises. He was buried in Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery. (common grave No 8).
