ISAEV Vasily Isaevich (1854-1911, St. Petersburg), doctor, microbiologist, Doctor of Medicine (1887). He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Moscow University (1877). From 1894, Isaev was chief doctor of the army and navy hospital in Kronstadt and medical inspector of the port. He transformed the hospital into a progressive medical and scientific institution. His medical research focused on the epidemiology of plague and immunity to cholera. He was buried in Serafimovskoe Cemetery. A commemorative plaque in his honour was placed on the building of Kronstadt Hospital (2 Manuilskogo Street). A monument to Isaev has been placed in the hospital's garden (sculptor L.V.
