VENEDIKTOV Anatoly Vasilievich (1887-1959, Leningrad), lawyer, Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958), honoured worker of science of the USSR (1942). Graduated from the Faculty of Economics of St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute (1910) and the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University (1912). Venediktov lectured in the Institute of Commerce and Industry (since 1916), and in Petrograd (Leningrad) Polytechnic Institute (1919-30). In 1933-42, held a professorship at Leningrad Project Institute. In 1944-49 he served as dean of the Faculty of Law of Leningrad State University. Venediktov wrote on issues of title, contractual relationships, history of legal regulation of industry in the USSR and helped put together the bulk of civil legislation of the USSR (1929, 1947-48). In 1949, he was awarded the Stalin prize. Since 1934, he lived at 8 Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street. Buried at Serafimovskoe Cemetery. There is a memorial plaque in his honour on the building of the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg State University (7, Twenty Second Line of Vasilievsky Island).
