In 1786, he graduated from the Naval Cadet Corps at 17 Leytenanta Schmidta Embankment (memorial plaque installed). Participated in the Russo-Swedish War of 1788-90. From 1803 to 1806, Lisyansky commanded the Neva sloop on what was the first Russian expedition around the world, led by I.F. Krusenstern. Lisyansky used to live on the corner of Gorokhovaya Street and Bolshoy Kazachy Lane (house not preserved), and moved to 89 Sadovaya Street in the early 1830s. He was buried at the Necropolis of Artists. Lisyansky's name was given to several geographic areas.
