GLUBOKOVSKY Nikolay Nikanorovich (1863-1937), church historian, theologian, Doctor of Theology (1897), corresponding member of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1909). Glubokovsky graduated from Moscow Theological Academy in 1889, and from 1891 he taught at St. Petersburg Theological Academy, where he was appointed Extraordinary Professor in 1894 and held the Chair for the New Testament. In 1893-94, Glubokovsky assisted the editor of Church bulletin and Christian Reader. Upon the death of A.P. Lopukhin he became the editor of the Orthodox Theological Encyclopedia, 1905-11, Vol. 6-12). In 1905-06, Glubokovsky held the post of chairman of the Synod Commission for Regulating Spiritual Texts. In 1906-07, Glubokovsky was a member of Pre-Council Synod Board, where he worked on projects for the reform of theological education; none of these projects was put into practice. In 1907, he took an active part in the work of the Commission for the Correction of the Slavonic text in service books. From 1909, Glubokovsky served as member of the School Council of the Holy Synod. In 1921, Glubokovsky left Russia, two years later he started teaching at the University of Sofia. Glubokovsky wrote over 200 works on exegesis, philology of the New Testament, church history, theological education etc. He lived at 180 Nevsky Prospeсt.
